You’re applying, reaching out to agencies, or trying to get more consistent work—but you’re not getting the response you expected.

This session will show you what’s happening from the recruiter’s side.

Recruiter Reality Check is a monthly, remote, live, small-group session for language professionals who want an honest look at their job search from the recruiter's perspective.

This is an interactive, recruiter-led conversation based on real hiring decisions in the language services industry. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and participate so the session reflects the issues people are actively facing.

Milijana Trobradovic, founder of Language Talent Pool and expert recruiter in the language service industry, will share practical insights from my experience as a recruiter, talent advisor, former interpreter, and agency owner, including how candidates are evaluated, why strong profiles are overlooked, and how to think more strategically about next steps.

What We Will Cover

  • What agencies look for when selecting freelance interpreters and translators
  • Why strong linguists still struggle to get consistent assignments
  • Resume, CV, and LinkedIn mistakes that cost you work
  • Rate discussions and positioning — what matters beyond price
  • How to assess whether you’re ready for certain types of clients
  • Where to focus your effort (and what to stop doing)
  • Current hiring and vendor trends in interpreting & translation

Format:

  • Live, interactive group session
  • 60 minutes
  • Open Q&A with general guidance shared for the benefit of the group
  • Zoom link provided after registration
  • Limited seats

Please note:

  • This is a group session, not 1:1 coaching
  • Resume, LinkedIn, and interview questions are welcome, but feedback is shared at a general level
  • This session does not include resume editing, mock interviews, or job placement

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed by mixed advice, or unsure why your applications aren’t converting into interviews, this session is designed to give you clarity, perspective, and hiring-side context without hype.

Testimonials:

"I have attended the two of the Recruiter's Reality Check sessions with Milijana and found them both extremely helpful: Milijana is a very experienced recruiter in the language industry, interviewed hundreds of people, saw thousands of resumes -- she shares her experience generously; she provides valuable info on how the language industry works, gives tips on how best to approach agencies to stand out with your resume and your media profiles.  In this session, any questions are welcome. Milijana also provides resume advice as a separate service, which I also found quite valuable."
