Business Development Director (Executive Level)
We are partnering with a leading organization in the drilling sector to appoint a highly experienced Business Development Director, reporting directly to the CEO. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for driving commercial strategy, strengthening client relationships, and positioning the business for long-term growth across both existing operations and new build projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary interface between clients and internal operations, ensuring commercial alignment across ongoing and future projects
- Lead the development and execution of business development strategy, including market analysis, pricing, tendering, and contract negotiations
- Own and manage all commercial drilling contracts, including leased assets and shareholder agreements
- Maintain senior-level client relationships and represent the organization at key industry events and external engagements
- Oversee preparation of board-level materials and monthly commercial reporting
- Lead localization and value creation initiatives, including IKTVA programs and vendor development
- Drive corporate social responsibility initiatives and support talent development programs in partnership with industry academies
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, HSE, and Operational Excellence teams to ensure alignment with organizational KPIs
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline
- 15+ years of experience in business development, commercial, or sales roles within the energy sector
- Mandatory experience working with an offshore drilling contractor
- Strong track record in contract negotiations, tender management, and commercial strategy execution
- Experience working in international and multicultural environments is highly advantageous
- Strategic mindset with the ability to influence at executive and board level
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
