Professional Interpreting Services is currently seeking Spanish interpreters to act as a conduit between the English and Spanish languages. As an independent contractor, you will have the opportunity to render on-site interpreting services for leading healthcare professionals, along with social services and other organizations in a variety of settings.
Important: This is not a full-time employee position. As an independent contractor, you will have the freedom to accept or decline assignments, manage your own schedule, and invoice for services rendered.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation between Spanish and English in a variety of settings.
- Prepare for assignments by familiarizing yourself with relevant terminology and subject matter.
- Comply with standards and ethical guidelines of the role of a professional/interpreter as given during onboarding.
Requirements
- Fluent in Spanish and English with strong interpreting skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused during high-pressure situations.
- Willingness to adhere to a professional code of ethics.
- Punctuality and reliability.
- Willingness to complete or previous completion of a minimum interpreter-training program. (Equivalent examples: The Community Interpreter, Bridging the Gap).
- Ability to use the Interpreter Scheduling System and enter data accurately.
