This position serves as a communication link between school personnel and limited English speaking (LEP) parents.
- Serves as a liaison between school personnel and ELL parents.
- Serves as part of the total school team to create a positive learning environment for students.
- Serves as a source of information to help staff better understand the culture and needs of ELL students and parents
- Works with students with extremely limited English proficiency in order to help them be more successful.
- Attends staff development sessions as directed by the district.
- Maintains the district’s standards relative to the confidentiality of information about students and school related concerns
- Attends to the safety and well being of all students, including but not limited to, the use of universal precautions as per blood borne pathogens training.
- Travel to homes of students to meet with parents or guardians to discuss school related issues as well as travel to other school sites as needed.
- If assigned to Riverview School; home visitor preparation, recess duty, and lunch supervision
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Experience in working with children preferred
3. Ability to develop positive constructive relations with students, staff and public
4. Significant experience in translating
5. Proficiency in English and the language to be translated (Bilingual)
6. Daily access and use of a vehicle for travel and must hold a valid WI drivers license. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Other Skills and Abilities - Ability to operate a personal computer and related software. Ability to speak the required language fluently and English fluently. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
