Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled English to American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to support our clients in Lancaster, CA. This role involves facilitating clear and effective communication between English-speaking individuals and members of the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
This job offers consistent weekly hours in a low-stress environment (e.g., standby support in case of walk ins).
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and culturally appropriate interpretation from English to American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa across various settings.
- Maintain confidentiality of all interpreted information while ensuring precise transmission of messages.
- Collaborate with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders to ensure smooth communication flows and address specific interpretation needs.
Requirements
- Proven proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey messages clearly, accurately, and empathetically.
- Knowledge of linguistics principles related to ASL and spoken language interpretation techniques.
