Bethesda Softworks is seeking a Product Development Manager to lead product development across Soft Lines categories for the Consumer Products & Licensing business. This role drives product excellence across apparel, accessories, and related categories, ensuring licensed products reflect franchise identity, meet quality standards, and support broader commercial and marketing objectives.
The role serves as Bethesda's primary product development lead for Soft Lines and Non-BGS programs, working closely with licensees, marketing partners, retail representatives, and internal stakeholders to bring high-quality products to market.
Responsibilities
Role Focus
- Licensing coordination and operational support across the Consumer Products & Licensing business.
- Product development coordination, with particular support for apparel, accessories, plush, home goods, lifestyle products, and other Softlines categories.
Licensing Coordination
- Support the onboarding and day-to-day administration of licensees and partners.
- Maintain licensing trackers, product records, contact lists, contract milestones, and program documentation.
- Coordinate partner communications, internal reviews, outstanding actions, and follow-ups.
- Support royalty reporting follow-up, partner compliance, renewals, and launch planning as directed by Licensing Managers.
- Prepare presentations, reports, meeting materials, and partner summaries.
Product Development Coordination
- Manage product and packaging submissions through the approval process and communicate consolidated feedback to partners.
- Track product development timelines, approvals, samples, deliverables, and launch schedules.
- Provide product development coordination across Softlines categories, including apparel, accessories, plush, home goods, and lifestyle products.
- Coordinate the distribution of approved assets, style guides, and reference materials to partners.
- Assist with style guide development, delivery, and maintenance.
- Collaborate with Marketing on product copy, marketing materials, and press releases.
Sample and Office-Based Support
- Receive, log, organize, store, and distribute incoming partner samples at the Rockville office.
- Coordinate sample review meetings, shipping, and product archives.
- Support trade shows, retailer meetings, partner reviews, and product showcase as required.
Cross-Functional Support
- Work closely with Licensing Managers, Product Development, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Studios, Creative Services, Retail, and external partners.
- Communicate clearly, manage deadlines, and escalate risks or missing information promptly.
- Provide flexible operational support across licensing and product development priorities as business needs evolve.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- 2-5 years of experience in licensing, consumer products, product development, merchandising, marketing, project coordination, or similar relevant experience.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Slack, Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint, and experience maintaining trackers and shared documentation.
- Ability to work from the Rockville office on a hybrid schedule

- Experience supporting licensed consumer products or entertainment brands.
- Experience with product approval systems (Mediabox), partner onboarding, asset management, or royalty and contract tracking.
- Knowledge of Softlines product development, style guides, apparel graphics, materials, sampling, packaging, or retail requirements.
- Familiarity with Bethesda franchises, gaming culture, or fandom-driven products.
