Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter specializing in telehealth and educational settings. This position supports a 5th-grade student with hearing impairments, specifically a cochlear implant, within a school environment located in Chicago, IL.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation to facilitate effective communication in a classroom setting.
- Supporting a small caseload consisting of one student through both 1:1 and small group interactions.
- Collaborating with educators to ensure accessibility and comprehension of instructional content.
Position details:
- Start Date: Immediate availability required
- End Date: May 22, 2026
- Weekly Hours: 22.5 hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
- Daily Schedule: 7:40 AM to 3:10 PM with a lunch break from 12:10 PM to 12:50 PM
Required qualifications:
- RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) Certification
- Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher
- Successful completion of a clear background check
