Help bring life-saving stories across language barriers.
At Hilde B, we believe that stories can change lives. Survivors of domestic violence, researchers, advocates, and volunteers around the world share experiences and resources that deserve to be heard far beyond the language they were originally written in.
As a Narrative Translation Volunteer, you will work closely with our Narrative Lead, Elia, to translate and adapt written content so it can reach a global audience. Your work will help ensure that powerful stories, educational materials, campaign content, and volunteer resources remain authentic, compassionate, and culturally appropriate.
What You’ll Do
● Translate articles, survivor stories, blog posts, and educational resources into your native or fluent language.
● Work with Elia to preserve the emotional tone and intent of each piece—not just the literal wording.
● Suggest cultural adaptations where direct translations may not resonate.
● Proofread translations created by other volunteers when appropriate.
● Help build a multilingual library of domestic violence awareness resources.
● Collaborate remotely with an international volunteer team.
We’re Looking For People Who
● Are fluent in English and at least one additional language.
● Enjoy writing and communicating clearly.
● Have excellent attention to detail.
● Can handle sensitive topics with empathy and professionalism.
● Are reliable and able to contribute a few hours each month.
● Previous translation experience is welcome but not required.
Bonus Skills
● Experience with journalism, creative writing, linguistics, localization, or nonprofit communications.
● Familiarity with CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tools.
● Knowledge of domestic violence, psychology, social work, or human rights.
Why Volunteer?
Your translations will help survivors, families, educators, policymakers, and volunteers around the world access information that could improve—and in some cases save—lives. Every language we add makes Hilde B’s mission more inclusive and accessible.
