Remote Mandarin–English Interpreter — Training Provided
Language Talent Pool is recruiting Mandarin–English bilingual professionals on behalf of a global language-services company. This is a full-time, remote independent-contractor opportunity for candidates interested in beginning or continuing a career in interpreting.
Prior interpreting experience is not required. Selected candidates will receive three weeks of paid, certified training.
Position Details
- Language: Mandarin Chinese and English
- Work arrangement: Fully remote
- Engagement: Full-time independent contractor
- Schedule: 7–8 hours per day, five days per week, with two days off
- Shifts: Daytime or overnight schedules aligned with U.S. Pacific or Eastern Time
- Training: Three weeks of paid, certified training
- Initial assignment: Over-the-phone interpreting
- Future transition: Video remote interpreting after three months
Training compensation is included in the interpreter’s first regular paycheck after successfully completing training, transitioning into operations and formalizing the contractor relationship with the company.
Approved Candidate Locations
Candidates must currently reside in one of the following countries and be able to provide legal proof of residency:
- Malaysia
- Philippines
- Taiwan
- Thailand
- South Korea

Candidate Qualifications
- Native-level spoken and listening proficiency in Mandarin Chinese
- Strong professional English communication and comprehension
- Ability to listen carefully and communicate information clearly and accurately
- Professional, reliable, punctual and comfortable working remotely
- Ability to remain calm and focused during urgent or high-stress calls
- Willingness to interpret across healthcare, government, finance, insurance, travel and hospitality
- Dedicated, quiet and private home workspace
- Availability for a full-time U.S.-aligned schedule
- Willingness to complete language, quality, technical and background assessments
Training Availability
Candidates must be available from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time throughout the three-week training program.
Training includes:
- Online learning modules
- Interpreting protocols
- Live video sessions with mandatory camera use
- Guided simulations and practice
- Daily assignments and progress requirements
- Individual coaching, feedback, and assessment meetings
Minimum Technical Requirements
Candidates must have:
- Intel Core i5, 8th generation or newer, or AMD Ryzen 5, 3000 series or newer
- At least 8 GB RAM
- At least 256 GB SSD storage
- Current supported operating system with active security updates
- Stable high-speed internet
- Direct wired Ethernet connection; Wi-Fi is not permitted during training or operations
- 1080p webcam
- Black wired USB or audio headset with a boom-style, unidirectional noise-canceling microphone
- Dedicated approved work location
Wireless headsets, Bluetooth earbuds, speakerphones, and personal VPNs are not permitted.
Selection Process
Qualified applicants will complete:

- Client language and quality assessment
- Computer and internet verification
- Residency verification and background check
- Language assessment
- Three-week paid training program
- Transition into live operations
Language Talent Pool conducts preliminary recruitment screening. The client makes all final assessment, technical verification, background check, and onboarding decisions.
