About HCLA
HCLA provides language services to individuals, businesses, legal professionals, healthcare organizations, and other institutions. We are expanding our nationwide network of freelance interpreters to meet the growing need for professional, in-person interpretation services.
Position Overview
HCLA is seeking qualified, reliable, and professional freelance interpreters in all languages to provide in-person interpretation throughout the United States.
We welcome applications from interpreters in major metropolitan areas, smaller cities, and surrounding communities. Opportunities may include immigration-related appointments, legal proceedings, healthcare encounters, and other professional assignments, depending on client needs and interpreter qualifications.
Languages Needed
We welcome interpreters in all languages, including but not limited to:
- Haitian Creole
- Spanish
- French
- Portuguese
- Italian
- Arabic
- Mandarin and Cantonese
- Vietnamese
- Russian and Ukrainian
- Bengali and Urdu
- Dari and Pashto
- Amharic and Somali
- Swahili
- And many other languages.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate, impartial, and professional in-person interpretation.
- Facilitate clear communication between English speakers and individuals who speak other languages.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow professional interpreting ethics.
- Arrive punctually at the assigned location.
- Follow assignment instructions and communicate professionally with the HCLA coordination team.
- Accept assignments that match your language skills, qualifications, location, and availability.
Qualifications
- Fluency in English and at least one additional language.
- Strong listening, communication, and interpreting skills.
- Previous interpreting experience preferred.
- Immigration, legal, medical, or community interpreting experience is an advantage.
- Relevant interpreting certifications or training are a plus.
- Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally for assignments.
