Interpreter/Translator - Detention & Removal Defense
About this opportunity
Legal Services of New Jersey is seeking a bilingual English-Spanish interpreter and translator to support attorneys, paralegals, and clients in immigration and detention matters.
Role
- Provide consecutive and simultaneous interpreting during client meetings, court-related work, and visits to ICE detention centers.
- Translate legal and client-facing documents between English and Spanish.
- Support communication between legal staff and clients while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and appropriate legal terminology.
Qualifications
- Excellent spoken and written Spanish and English.
- Degree in translation, graduate-level Spanish coursework, or comparable professional experience.
- Experience with computer-assisted translation, desktop publishing, or legal terminology is preferred.
- Additional language skills are welcome.
