Japanese Language Lead (Freelance)

Translated is expanding its global talent network and is seeking experienced Japanese Senior Linguists and professionals with proven Japanese Language Lead experience. This is a remote, freelance opportunity combining translation and revision with team and quality-management responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality Japanese translation and revision work against defined quality targets.
• Provide Japanese linguistic and cultural guidance for enterprise projects.
• Analyze the causes of quality issues using Translated's tools or client platforms.
• Monitor and improve linguistic quality across assigned accounts.
• Guide linguists, monitor performance, organize training, and support team and quality management.

Qualifications

• Native-level Japanese and strong English proficiency.
• Working knowledge of CAT tools.
• Professional translation or proofreading experience for major international brands.
• For Language Lead responsibilities, previous experience leading language quality, teams, or performance.
• Experience in tourism, IT, or healthcare is preferred.

Candidates complete a short translation test of approximately 500 words. Successful candidates proceed through structured training and onboarding before joining Translated's enterprise linguist pool.
