Role Overview
Pulse Labs is seeking a professional Simultaneous Translator with excellent communication skills to join our UX Research team on a temporary basis for a project based in Mexico. During this project, you will help the UX Research team prepare for user interviews that will be conducted via Google Meets. You will provide simultaneous translation from Spanish to English for English-speaking customers that work at a large tech company. The goal is to provide real-time understanding of interviews, including cultural context. After the interviews, you will assist the UX Research team with providing English subtitles for video clips and translating user quotes from Spanish
This contract is 100% remote and will require approximately 40 hours of work per week. It will run from approximately April 6 to April 24.
Key Responsibilities
Simultaneous Translation: Observe Spanish-language user interviews on live video with two people, a moderator and a participant, and provide simultaneous translation from Spanish to English while on a separate video call with the client.
Document Translation: Translate text like documents from English to Spanish and Spanish to English, including things like an interview moderation guide, research survey responses, and instructions for research study participants.
Video Audio Translation: Provide translations from Spanish to English for many short video clips (1-4 minutes each) for the purpose of providing subtitles for videos included in a research report.
Stakeholder Communication: Attend virtual client meetings and provide concise, professional status updates via email and Slack to both colleagues and customers.
Qualifications
Experience: 3+ years of experience in spoken simultaneous translation from Spanish to English for business or technology purposes.
Communication and Language: Bilingual or Professional level proficiency in both Spanish and English. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and ability to clarify details in ambiguous situations.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, English, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Tech Savvy: Proficient in Google Workspace, Slack, Spreadsheets, Email, and other common office tools.
Location and Time Zone: Must be located in Mexico and able to work US Eastern time zone hours.
Preferred Skills
Prior experience translating for user research interviews or market research interviews.
Experience assisting with research planning and research support.
Knowledge of motorcycle and automotive technology, and familiarity with motorcycle riders and their riding experience.
Prior experience working for a tech company, user experience research agency, or market research agency.
Experience editing and subtitling videos
